I just had a short discussion with Sean about "critical" files in
translations of the manual and he suggested I'd bother all of you with
the issue. ;)
Critical files are files with too old revisions. So this status can be
used as an indication for the translated file being outdated, though
it's no proof. But IMO the indication a file _might_ be outdated is
enough to consider it outdated. My idea was to skip each file with a
critical status and build the original English version of it instead of
the translated one, as it is done with files missing in a translation.
At least if that is feasible to implement in the build process.
There is a problem with files being skipped because the original fixed
some typos. On the other hand these typos are either easy to fix or not
even in the translated files and the file would be easy to fix. So my
idea is a tradeoff between displaying files that might be critically
outdated and containing plain wrong information vs. displaying a
non-translated version because there were some minor fixes. I vote for
the former.
I'd be glad to hear your opinion on this.
