I think there is no particular reason other that nobody wrote the
documentation yet. We always have many undocumented functions, features,
etc.. and its a little difficult to catch the fast PHP development. I
personally don't even have enough knowledge to write about such functions.
If you would like to contribute, send us the documentation (in XML) and
somebody will review it.

It seems to me that they're working pretty well, but without being
included in the manual the reader might have the impression that PDO
doesn't support PostgreSQL's Large Objects interface, which could be the
reason for not using PDO at all.
