The Arabic PHP Documentation list is like dead. No one is working or doing anything. Nothing has been translated so far. Salah Faya started the list and tried to start a team to translate the php documentation but it failed. He couldn't find enough people willing to help in translating the documentation. However, now I'm trying to help him to start over setting up the team and I have some question.
And it was nice to see a lengthy discussion take place on the doc-ar@ list.
What programs do other teams use to manage the translation?
Most people either use the following revcheck tool or run one locally: http://doc.php.net/php/revcheck.php So for AR: http://doc.php.net/php/ar/revcheck.php See also: http://doc.php.net/php/dochowto/chapter-translation.php
What is the average team size of other teams?
As an observer, it's the amount of time that matters because team sizes vary from 0-50 with the most successful translation (JA) essentially having one (Masahiro) person. Felipe recently started work on pt_BR and is basically catching it up by himself. BG has about three active people. And it's difficult to know the size of a team considering most people are inactive. So, while it may seem overwhelming to catch up a translation from 1% to 100%... once there it should be smooth sailing :-)
I'm also requesting a CVS account to help and contribute on the translation if possible. I have been using PHP since 2002-2003 as a freelancer developer. I'm currently a student in computer engineering in Kuwait University, 3rd year, and I work part time as a programmer and research assistance in my university.
