The pt_BR breaks easily because of the huge gap between the latest en version and the pt_BR one. If you are really interested in helping, you should read this article:
https://wiki.php.net/doc/translations/pt_br This not only teaches you how to contribute to the brazilian translation, but also defines the current focus of the translation. Translating one or two files in separate books is not really useful to anyone. We have to dedicate ourselves to the synchronization of the current books and most critical articles, in order to stabilize the build and allow more translators to join the group.
