Thanks Shayde, Peter, For sure I better check out the documentation more completely. Before this I was playing around with Perl scripts opening sockets etc. I guess I assumed xmlrpc php was similar but it's not.
Peter I tried the script without the <?php ?> tags but they are required. If they are not used the script is not executed but dumped to stdout.
