Dear piler-users,
I've just released the latest stable version of piler. You may
download it from
https://bitbucket.org/jsuto/piler/downloads/piler-0.1.23.tar.gz
It features a brand new theme for the web based gui made by Remi Smith.
I was
so impressed that I've replaced the default theme with the new one. I
especially
like the look of the admin dashboard for the system health.
However the original theme is still available, and it was renamed to
'orig'. I
improved it a bit, and it uses the whole browser window.
Remi also developed an accounting feature. It gives an overview who
uses how
much disk space. It may or may not be useful in your environment.
Thanks to Frank Ellebrecht, the gui speaks in German, too.
Frank also gave hints to improve the sphinx.conf config.
The sql scheme has also improved (however you don't have to change it
from
0.1.22 to 0.1.23).
And 0.1.23 includes lots of bugfixes, improvements. One improvement is
that
you may create a local config-site.php script to keep your site
specific
settings, eg. hostname, site url, mysql passwords, timezone, etc.
There's an example config-site.php file in the upgrade docs, see below.
Installing piler from scratch can be time consuming, so I made some
post install
scripts to speed up the process. Just compile piler, then run "make
postinstall"
as root. The scripts ask some questions, and do lots of otherwise
manual tasks.
Note that it's not an obligation to run the postinstall script, you may
do
the dirty work by hand, too.
IMPORTANT! The postinstall script is ONLY FOR NEW INSTALL. Never use it
for
an upgrade.
Btw. before upgrading be sure to review the docs at
http://www.mailpiler.org/en/upgrade.html
If you need any help upgrading, just write.
I'm also planning to offer commercial support for piler. If you are
interested
in such an offer, then let me know.
Happy archiving,
Janos
