@mourik , interested in knowing What's your reason for not wanting encrypted archived emails ?
Well, probably not very good reasons, but:
We have recently migrated to dovecot/maildir. And getting mails into dovecot had to be done over imap, as our previous system used it's own on-disk format for mails/mailboxes.
Since dovecot/maildir, backup/restoring emails has become SO easy, because mails are just regular files. Searchable, backupable, restoreable. We like that. We have not seen a single case of corruption ever, where in the previous system, all kinds of scans/maintenance had to be performed to keep the system running.
That's the reason, when given the choice, I chose to not encrypt mails. To have the same transparancy, on-disk cleanness.
Plus: If I ever would like to migrate from mailpiler to something else, which of course I cannot image at all!! :-) I have the feeling it would be easier with unencrypted mails, which I could feed in some kind of import utility. (something like: pilerimport -e <eml file>)
