actually, we are trying to test the piler VM. We would like to configure
our postfix mailserver, that it's going to forward every mail to the
piler host. What I'd like to know is: how does piler know its
mailaddress to receive the mails from our mailsystem? As far as I see,
there is no postfix or anything installed on the vm, right?

right. However the piler daemon itself is an smtp server, so no really
need for postfix or anything else

We are using an address like [email protected]

that's surely ok

piler.our.domain.nl is the dns name of the piler machine, and
therefore the mails are delivered on that machine. Piler itself
listens on port 25, and basically accepts whater you attempt to
deliver.

At least...this is my understanding. :-)

you are right. One side note: with the archive_only_mydomains=1 setting
piler discards any email not belonging to any of the domains listed on
the administration -> domain page. However the default behaviour is to
archive everything it receives.
