In JavaJni there is a class to enable you to open either a host file which contains a Palm DB (downloaded by pilot-xfer) or a DB actually on a Palm connected through either serial or USB. Once the DB is open (either type) then data can be read and written. If the DB was on the host then of course you would need to upload it to the Palm using pilot-xfer.
