I was on Bromo for over a year, and as of about 2 weeks ago have been off of
it. (for a diagnositc, will go back on it at the end of the month.) When I
stopped taking it, my dose was 12.5 mgs. Had been up to 15mgs, but could
not tolerate it-very lethagric with weight gain. Felt much better, more
energy, brighter when reduced to 12.5, but............this drug creates
terrible terrible mood swings (depression, emotinally distressed,
distracted, crying jags, and once in a while, feeling good and serene) as a
side effect for me. To the point that I was becomming concerned and
thinking about asking my doc for an anti-depressant. I just want to have a
more cosistant, non distressed mood. While still having some mood swings
(though much less) without the drug (totaly drug free at the moment) it has
really shown me just how bad the mood swings are.
When I first started meds I took Dostinex, but because my doc kept
increasing my dose I got priced out the market even with health insurance,
so switched to Bromo. Sorry, can't really remember what side effects from
the Dostinex. I did start having periods after starting treatment, but
don't remember how long after starting. Have not had any problems with them
on Bromo.
The side effects of this drug are so varied. Did have some nausea and
dizziness, but they were minimal for me. You'll just have to try it to see
what works. Would love to be able to just take a small daily dose!
Best,
