Ian, I hope I spelled your name right I couldn't tell if it was an L or an I so forgive me if it's wrong. Anyway, thank you for responding. Your symptoms are exactly like mine. I had assumed all summer that the white tongue was from a yeast infection which I had been diagnosed with during the summer. I may have had a yeast infection in the summer, as my FP agreed my mouth looked "yeasty", but as I said the culture didn't back up the diagnosis. I also get swelling inside of both cheeks and when this happens my parotid gland ducts puff out and get a red dot in the center. I've been going through this for over a year now, I can't tell you how many doctors I've brought this up to and it was ignored. From what I've read the puffiness of the duct and red dot are a sign of a parotid gland infection but, after many exams the doctors insist my parotid glands are okay. Plus I had a CT that showed no tumors etc. After my ENT gave me this info about the saliva I thought it all makes sense why I've had swollen cheeks if the saliva is too thick. I was also told once I wasn't draining enough saliva which would also jive with too thick saliva but the doctor didn't follow up on it... I guess it was okay the next visit. I don't always have the excessive swelling in my cheeks it seems to act up about once every three to four weeks. Well, thanks for the info. As usual I'm trying to figure everything out on my own as I haven't had much luck with doctors taking me seriously. I don't know if it's endocrine related or not but I'm trying to gather as much info from others as I can so I appreciate you responding. I have the opposite problem as you as my GH and IGF-1 are on the low end. Once it was 90 just in the normal range. I'm going to hopefully find an Endo to do more extensive tests. Thanks, Lisa |
