This program is directed toward patients, their families, referring physicians, and other health care providers interested in learning more about disorders of the pituitary gland. The program is designed to provide health care providers and patients with information on the manifestations of pituitary disease which may lead to improvement in diagnosis and treatment. Emphasis will also be placed on informing patients about their disease, and providing a forum for discussion and an opportunity to ask questions of experienced and knowledgeable faculty. After attending the conference, participants should be able to: ? Describe the different types of pituitary disorders; ? Understand the various treatments for different types of pituitary hormone deficiencies; ? Understand the importance of full hormone replacement; ? Discuss the role of growth hormone replacement in adults; ? Identify what pituitary tumors look like under the microscope; ? Understand the relationship between a pituitary tumor and sexual function and fertility; ? Explain the use of radiotherapy and radiosurgery in the treatment of pituitary disorders; ? Describe the psychological effects of pituitary disorders on the patient and family; ? Achieve a heightened awareness of initial symptoms of pituitary disease; ? Discuss the specific features of acromegaly, Cushing�s disease, nonfunctioning adenomas, craniopharyngioma and prolactinoma. Hope you can make it! It will be a very educational event!
