Cat, I've been working with/talking with Cushings patients for several years. What I have learned is that there are degrees to the illness. Some patients are much sicker than other patients. The patients that have progressed significantly in their disease need to be treated quickly. The doctors keep a close eye on their cushings patients and they know what to watch out for when their patients take a downward turn. The disease can kill. I think too, that patients who have a cyclical presentation, tend to be put on a testing and monitoring schedule. The patients aren't conclusive in having Cushings. For us, it is a frustrating, hair pulling experience, as we want to get well and get on with our lives. For science, it gives the doctors time to show diesease progression and gives time for us to 'pass the clinical testing' showing that we do indeed have Cushings, as shown by the laboratorial evaluation. For the patients in the wings like that, we really get discouraged. Things just aren't moving fast enough. So what do you do? Hang in there, try to be patient. I know your doctor does care about you. Don't think that you aren't any less important. You've been through alot already and I'm sure your doctor is trying to put the puzzle together. Some doctors don't say anything until they have a full strategy and direction outlined. ![]() Minnie |
