Hi everyone,

Not sure if I'm in the right place to talk about this, but figured I'd try anyways.  I have had an extremely high prolactin level since I was in 10th grade of high school (I am 25 now).  I have been to see a specialist and had the MRI thing done- no tumor was found.  So basically I'm in the 'we have no idea why it's like this' category.

I was on Parlodel back in high school but the side effects were killing me, so I decided to stop taking the drug.  Two years ago I lost over 40 pounds and found that the symptoms were not so bad.  I have gained back a bit of that since and have found that I am seeing some of the things I saw before- such as:  steady weight gain (even with dieting seems to not go away), brittle hair, facial hair, mood swings, depression, breakouts and exhaustion.  (I'm wondering if these are common side effects too???).

My doctor sent me for blood work 2 weeks ago so I am waiting for the results.  She informed me that the 'newest' drug to help lower the prolactin level is Dostinex.  Has anyone found this drug to be a help to them?? How have the side effects been in comparison to Parlodel?? How about weight gain or loss on Dostinex.  I read on a website that Dostinex is supposed to aid in weight loss (please tell me this is correct!!!).

Hope someone in the same position can help answer some of my questions.  Thanks for your help :)
