Hello Meri,

Thank you so much for this information. I did research it more but was
unable to see a correlation to the drug and causing tumors. Yet, I am
greatly concerned about continuing its use. I do have excess facial
hair growth (as I think I mentioned to you) that bothers me so much!!
In fact I'm going to a skin specialist/plastic surgeon next Tuesday as
she has mentioned to me when I was with a girlfriend the other day (who
uses her) for me to make an appointment and she would give me a
prescription for a cream I can use that will help eliminate that excess
facial hair growth. However, if the spironolactone does something
with the androgens (whatever they are) maybe I should just discontinue
the use of spironolactone and that would make a big difference. I am
also out of the prescription spironolactone so I wanted to call my
primary doctor and ask his opinion so your email has come at the
perfect time!! Thank you so much for getting back to me. I did have
another appointment on Monday of this week with my liver/kidney
specialist who is monitoring every year whether there is further growth
of some cysts they found on my kidneys and liver back in 2000. All
remain stable (thank goodness) except, another one is found on my left
kidney. In addition, the doctor said he didn't feel they were
cancerous but that we would continue to monitor them closely. He said
the most recent finding was about the size of a dime and was filled
with fluid and it could likely burst and cause bleeding. He said that
unless I have pain and bleeding it wasn't necessary for me to see him
until next year again. Anyway, I also asked him about spironolactone
and he didn't think it was the cause or the problem. But.... I'm going
to ask the primary doctor his thoughts and whether I should continue
it's use. I haven't been diagnosed with PCOs, just endometrosis nearly
20 years ago and I had to have a total hysterectomy and take the
danocrin which I talked to you about. (I always thought that the
danocrin was the reason I was having difficulty with the facial hair
growth but maybe the spironolactone is contributing to the problem as
well!! Can you tell me what androgens are? I also have another
question that you may have the answer to.....does endometriosis and
pituitary disorders have a correlation to the other? ( This one lady I
know locally who had a tumor, surgery etc. said she had learned through
her process that there is a definite correlation to the other. I have
never found that in my research either and would be interested if you
know of any research that does support that finding.)

Thanks again Meri for your time and interest.

You take care too!

Marty
