Hello Robin!
I was going through some older messages on my computer and noticed you had seen the doctor in Evanston, Illinois....just wandering how you are doing now? (I'm formerly from Illinois and now live in Nevada.) My husband & I lived in Chicago for seven years before moving west/southwest. Would like to know what you think about your doctor there in Evanston? I'm in the process of going to a doctor in Oregon and I think we are getting to the real issues for me...at least I hope so.
Just a recap- I have empty sella syndrome, chronic fatigue syndrome, had deviated septum for which I had surgery last November to correct that. During that surgery they found a bone spur located behind the deviated septum and also removed that. I now can breath like never before which is great!!! I have also been diagnosed with sleep apnea and now sleep with a CPAP nightly which really has helped my sleep quality. I am 50 years old and had a total hysterectomy due to endometriosis several years back, I have several cysts on my kidneys, liver which are being monitored on a yearly basis...I have acid reflux, hiatal hernia, high blood pressure, short term memory loss, lack of concentration at times, decline in cognitive abilities, real fatigue, weakness and on occasion have short circuiting feelings going through my both arms and hands. I have headaches that are very painful of and on, ringing in my ears, dizziness, vision problems, etc., etc...sorry to write a lengthy story. Anyway, the doctor in Oregon thinks I likely have a cystic lesion/tumor filled with fluid that is likely pressing against the pituitary gland and causing my symptoms making the cortisol levels to go up and down, as well as other things out of balance. I will see him May 7th to find out more...after having more tests. So far adult growth hormone deficiency has been ruled out, and my next test is the saliva test and eventually the test for checking the cortisol, ACTH, and glucose levels through an iv catheter with a midnight draw. The doctor in Oregon believes I may be headed towards Cushings disease, and that for now I do not have the characteristics of that yet but he feels I may be in the worst position between the two worlds for if I do have a tumor and it is removed I may likely then have challenges with adrenal failure/imbalances. So...the saga continues. I have been disabled now for nearly three years and searching for the best doctors. Hope to hear from you and hope your situation has improved.
