Hi Bea!

I am also trying to educate and bring awareness for brain tumor patients. I have been a member of the BT list for several years. My friend has an AA III and our family friend died of a gbm. I wanted to go to DC and help out this year during BT Action Week, but unfortunately, I am not able to go. A bt patient was very kind and generous and she sent bt awareness pins, stickers, and tattoos. I am going to give them out in my local community. I know many bt patients in this region.

I do believe that pit tumors are brain tumors and so do most (if not all) neurosurgeons. After all, they have to perform brain surgery to remove them. The government categorizes pituitary tumors as "cancer," not just brain tumors. It seems everyone has a different opinion, a different category for our condition, but the fact remains that the pituitary is a very important gland in the body and it happens to be at the base of the brain. Thus, my opinion on it being a "brain tumor."

I think you should send your hats in to Kris. My friends' hats will be there. I think there should be a lot more awareness brought to bt patients for a better chance of survival. I am reading the 2004 Faces of BTs book as I write this.

Take care. Thanx for posting this information!!
