Chris,
I'm glad to hear your son has a good independant streak. I'm sure it will serve him well.
I never got to the motorcyles yet, but I did parasail 4 months after my last surgery-you should have seen the look on my neurosurgeons face when I showed him the picture!
I have only been on the thyroid & testosterone. My endo says my cortisols are low so I tried prednisone for a while. Gained weight & didn't like the way it made me feel, so I told him I'll take it if I get seriously sick/injured.
I do have bilateral shunts. They were put in a few hours after my initial operation-a transphenodial. I developed hydroencyphalitus 3 hours after the first surgery, and had the shunts done as an emergency surgery.
I haven't had any problems related to the shunts until last week when I developed a boil like lump over the shunt in my neck. I see a neurosurgeon tomorrow. Bringing up all kinds of old memories and fears. I hate August! Original surgeries were in august of '83.
I think your son made a good choice in not taking physics. He's got enough on his plate without the added pressure of a class like physics.
I wish all the best for your son and will keep him in my prayers.
Mike
