Thank you for your reply. My daughter has an appointment with Dr. Ludham Sept 20. There are a few bumps in hte road. Several months ago my daughter had an adrenal crisis. Her cortisol and ACTH were very low. The doctor ( we live in N.Y.) said she had secondary Addisons disease. He put her on a daily maintance dose of predisone. Dr. Ludham said that the doctor should have still followed her cortisol and ACTH levels. The docors didn't check them after the crisis. He said that sometimes Cushings can be cynical (not sure of spelling). Doctor Ludham changed the predisone to Hydocortisone so he can take an ACTH stimulation test. He said that this test must be done before we come to see him. He thinks that my daughter does not really have to be on predisone and this should have been investgated more throughly. Yet you cannot just stop taking it. I didn't understand everything he said about Cushings because with Cushings you have high cortisol and ACTH and my daughter has low. Again she has not been tested in the last five months. I'm trying to stay on top of everything but there is so much to learn. My daughter is so sick that its a task just for her to get out of bed. She sleeps for hours. I hope to hear from you soon. Thank you Marymonet |
