Hi
Mary!
From what I understand, your doctor should
still do an annual MRI to check on the actual activity of the tumor. Also, you
don’t swing on and off Dostinex like that. You will be on Dostinex long
term. I think I posted an article in the research links that discuss female prolactinoma
patients successfully being able to be off dopamine agonists after menopause. I
remember listening to a tape from the Endocrine Society that discussed the recurrence
rate when the patient was taken off dopamine agonists after the prolactin
normalized. The shorter the duration the patient was on the dopamine agonists,
the higher the rate of hyperprolactin recurrence. I can find a paper on that if
you like.
If you dostinex is too high, you can have
a stuffy nose. Your doctor should start you out on a low dose, and gradually
increase your dosage so your body can adjust to the medication.
So what do I think? Well… same thing
you do. You need a second opinion from a pituitary endocrinologist.
So… whatcha waiting for!?
