I was not diagnosed with a prolactinoma the first time I was diagnosed in 2000, I was diagnosed with cushing's disease. However, they found out about high cortisol levels until "after" finding out my testosterone, DHEAs, and prolactin levels were really really high. I had a macroadenoma, so I guess the high levels of the other hormones was just because of the pressure from the tumor? Or maybe the position of it? not really sure. After the first surgery in 2001 I was fine for a few months and then became very very anemic, was put on high doses of iron supplements and as long as I kept on taking them I was fine. I then stopped taking them when I was feeling ok and the levels went right back down again. I guess it's a supplement I'll just need to keep on taking....right now I have a reoccurence of cushing's disease and my symptoms are all there again plus many others that I did not have the first time.......
This second time is much worse than the first time! And yes.....I got my iron levels tested again a few weeks ago because instead of three iron pills a day I was taking only one a day and some days was not even remembering of taking it and my iron was lowering lots again......
