Today Jason got his shot. We thought we would be in and out and Jason was already irritated that I had scheduled his shot on a day where he was off of school, but Dr. Maas wanted to check on him. Jason surprised me by being very open with her about how badly he has been feeling. Nausea, headaches, dizziness, body aches and overall yucky were his symptoms. I had assumed that this was from the Sandostatin LAR, but Dr. Maas got extremely concerned immediately. She asked if Jason could stay for a Cortisol test, and even though he was extremely frustrated at being stuck at the doctor's office he held in there and they did a test that lasted over 1 and 1/2 hours. Dr. Maas explained that cortisol is one of the hormones that you need to live, and that Jason's symptoms were classic for a cortisol deficeit. I am scared for him as this may indicate that his tumor is impacting his pituitary gland more than before. there are so many caring people who are praying for Ogy and hoping that all goes well for him, I sure hope that God has is ears on! If any of you are dealing with low cortisol could you give me some information regarding the suppliment that Jason will most likely take? What are the side effects? Any info would be greatly appreciated. take care all - Chris - Ogy's Mom |
