My name is Amanda and my doctor thinks I may have a pituitary tumor. I had my third child 16 months ago. Here 16 months later and I am still leaking breastmilk. I only pumped for 6 weeks after my preemie was born. She was born at 26 weeks gestation. I have not had a period in 15 months. I went to the doctor and he checked my prolactin levels they came back 54 he said between 2 and 29 were normal. He scheduled me an MRI for this Tuesday and follow up prolaction test in 4 weeks. Here's the thing I don't have insurance and the MRI will be 2200.00 and I can not get any financial assistance. My husband makes two much money even for a family of 5 and just his income coming in. I have decided to forgo on the MRI I don't have a choice. I am going back in 4 weeks to have my levels checked again. I also have hypothyroidism this was discovered 2 years ago and I am taking medication for this. I don't have any headaches just the abscence of menstral periods I also have hot flashes. I am only 28 years old. What would you do if you were in my situation of not being able to have an MRI because of no insurance. Would it be alright to wait.
