Dear Minnie Chat, Thanks for the reply. The hydrocortisine doesn't seem to help the sinuses. I've just bought a pediatric nasal spray called Otrivin junior but the little guy hates having it sprayed into his nose. It takes two people to do it - he is strong for a 2 1/2 year old!!! he also says "Mummy don't put dose drops!" I feel really bad doing it.The nasal mist did help a little bit when we managed to get it into him.Otherwise he is always congested and sometimes wakes up screaming because he can't breathe. Then I pick him up and hold him upright and he breathes through his mouth and calms down. I thought our warm summer weather may help but it hasn't.He is also always rubbing his nose upwards with his hands (?itchy?) and lots of times rubs his nose on my T shirt when he comes up to me, as well as on the lounge, the cushions, the bedspread etc..... I am alternating Claratyne syrup with drops and sometimes try to have a day "off". My ped endo wasn't terribly interested. Gave me the three options of sinus management i.e. saline drops, Claratyne syrup or cortisone based nasal mist which can damage the mucosa. I am going to see a GP in March so I'm going to ask for a referral to an ENT specialist I think. I was worried that because in the embryonic state, since the ant. pituitary is formed from an invagination of nasopharyngeal tissue he may have a malformation of sinus spaces as well as the high position of the ant.pit. The last time we saw the ped. endo above, he peered into his nose with a torch and said it looked OK. I think I may like an ultrasound or an X-ray or something to confirm it's not an anatomical problem, but he may not agree to authorising it.. I would like to talk to other people who may have the same cause of their hypopit. I realise lots of kids suffer allergies and sinuses anyway, and was interested to hear about yours having to have medication for all this time! Yes, it is one of the hardest things in the world, to have sick kids and have to medicate them. But allergies and sinuses are absolutely dreadful as well. I remember having a bad cold when I was pregnant and not being able to breathe in or out and having mucous in my throat and coming close to a panic attack! Anyway, thanks for sharing and hope you and your family keep well.Bye for now. ![]() |
