Hi Minnie, those snippets you posted, I'm having a terrible time understanding them. Is it saying that it's hard to diagnose Acromegaly in patients with wasting diseases/malnutrition diseases? I laso have Crohn's disease which I've had all my life & have an iliostomy. I know that I'm not getting the nutrition I shouylkd be as a result. I've recently been 'diagnosed' with acromegaly. I think I'm having the symptoms ie: bad night sweats, exhaustion, muscle weakness, dizziness,. Other sypmtoms which I'm not sure of might be rib enlargement (One sid seems to be sticking out more- but I do smoke- so maby that's fro mthat with the lung- not sure) I don't know about facial features changing any- I've lived with me for so long, it's hard tro tell- feet and hands are the same size as they've been for a long time. My particular situation was that Crohn's disease had really affected me as a kid. I was a junior in highschool, and only weighed 81 pounds, was 5.5 tall- Finally I had to have emergency surgery to remove sections of intestines. After the operation, within like 6 months, I grew to 6.1 inches tall, gained to 145 pounds- felt absolutely great for about ten years- then started getting exhausted. wetn 'undiagnosed' for 14 years now they tell me I have acromegaly- yippee. i wonder if that sudden growth spurt at 17 years old mighta messed soemthing up- anyways- the poiunt to all this rambling, I still have the wasting disease, chrohn's (Although I've maintained 165 pounds for many years now) & I'm wondering if maybe that article is saying wasting diseases might mess up the readings on Growth Hormone? |
