Hi Rhiannon
I am 59 yo who had a pit tumour removed xmas 1999.The tumour was only discovered when I went blind. The joint pain and listlessness is all too familiar.Hormone supplements cannot replace the function of the pituitary and my experience is that you have to live within your limitations.I have got used to what I can do and cant do.My immune system is poor and any cold or any sort of virus takes ages to shake off.I was put on GH trial but even though it made me feel tons better has to be stopped due to water retention.
One of the things I have noticed is that although we suffer from a serious condition outwardly we dont look ill and I find people tend to think there is nothing wrong with you. There never appears to be any help with the psychological effects of a pit tumour. You have to come to terms with the way we are.I still suffer headaches and dreadful backpain 5 years on.The thing is dont despair as with this condition it is par for the course to feel this way I know as I have experienced exactly the same and come through.
