No, for me the DDAVP was transient. I was able to keep up with the DI while I was in the hospital - I could drink as much as I could pee - not a nice experience though. I was given a shot, and relief!  I was sent home with pills to take at night so I could sleep. By the second week, it resolved itself. My instructions were to not take them during the day unless the thirst was just uncontrollable, and to not take the pills at night until it started up, as it was actually "good" for the body to rid itself of the excess water.
 
It isn't something I'd like all of  the time though. I am an avid gardener, and I just don't know how I'd do in the Texas heat with DI.
 
You might want to contact the Medical Records Office and start the process of getting your new endo copies of your hospital medical records so he/she won't look at you like you are some weirdo from outer space. It might help.
