Keri and Minnie,

Just received results of my second MRI -- "normal MRI".

Now I am wondering about consult witl pit specialist and/or pir neurosurgeon for a second opinion.  Until this board, I was under impression that prolactin levels <100 were more likely idiopathic and less likely due to prolactinoma.

I now know better.  Even my endo (a near-retiremend diabetes/metab guy) suspects prolactinoma, and has coded encounter forms with that diagnosis for nearly as long as I've been seeing him.

With most recent prolactin level at 120 (10 days before MRI), I'd feel much better with second opinion from a more specialized pit expert.  Problem is, there are no pit endos in my city -- and need to obtain special dispensation to have this covered under insurance, or pay out of pocket if insurance becomes a hassle.

First step will be to ask current endo about consult for re-reading -- I suspect he will understand this, and would have power to refer.  Second question then becomes -- where to go?  I am in the Northeast (will share location privately but not in posting) -- will travel even to OHSU if that is best.  Have tons of FF miles -- can and will travel.

Suggestions/advice on how to proceed here would be helpful!
