Your doctor needs to check your cortisol levels with 24 UFCs. He also needs to test your strength (do you need to "push" yourself out of a chair, or are you able to stand on your own?). Have you seen a neurologist? Muscle atrophy is a symptom of hypercortisolism. I have peripheral neuropathy, cause unknown. I don't feel physical pain in my extremities. It's nice until you realize you cut or burned yourself! I have pulled trays out of the oven with my bare hands and not realized it til I looked down and saw what I had done. It can be dangerous. I also have very frequent tingling and numbness in my extremities. I have not been given an explanation for it besides several "catch-all" diagnoses such as carpal tunnel, peripheral neuropathy, pressure point degeneration, and a few others they threw in. As for weakness, I have become much weaker, but I can still rise from a chair on my own. I am the weakest after taking a shower or bath...the temperature change does a number on my body. I usually have to lie down until I regain my strength. I have noticed that women who are pregnant also feel weaker after taking a shower/bath. I find that interesting because it is caused by the hormonal changes that they are going through. I hope you find your answers, soon. You should contact your doctor for your results, you should have a copy of them for your records. Take care. You're in my prayers. Meri |
