I just noticed you said the Docs prescribed antidepressents. Please, if you truly aren't depressed, then tell them that. My Docs kept trying to prescribe antidepressents for me. I beleived them at one point and went on a couple of them. Yikes!!! I truly suffered a bout of depression about 7 years ago, and I now know the difference between being absolutely dissappointed and frustrated, and between true depression. Heck, anyone who feels like they have the flue for 20 or so years is going to be a bit down both physically and mentally, but that doesn't mean they are 'depressed'. If you feel you're not suffering from true depression, then please tell your Doc that. Like you, I felt even worse when they put me on the meds. At that point, I wasn't suffering the true depression, but at that point, I was willing to give anything a try. I'm sorry now that I did. Being upset and dissappointed and frustrated is much much different than having true depression. The diagnosis of 'depression' is a catch all diagnosis when Docs aren't sure of what's going on. Don't be their victim of this type of diagnosis. Insist that something physical is going on.
As the others have said, Don't mention a specific disease. I found that if you say something like "I think what I am experiencing is similiar to, or perhaps related to, adrenal fatigue because...." and then list tghe sypmtoms that you are having, then the Doc will be more apt to 'investigate' what the cause may be. (Note, listing adrenal fatigue is a good one because the symptoms mimick many hormone problems). I think, Like PT is suggesting, that Docs are more apt to 'investigate' for you if they feel like they are the ones that will 'discover' what the problem is. A 'Thenk you Doc." when the discovery is made is also more apt to cause them to take you serious the next itme too. My Doc who 'discovered' my tumor in a round about way is very open now and sympathetic. I've never had a Doc be this way with me before. It's quite refreshing actually.
May God bless you in your search for the answers.
