Cushings Possible?

Fauna- look up cushings on the net and write down every single symptom you have. This is important. My Docs had told me for 14 years that my exhaustion and muscle weakness was due to another condition I have (Crohn's disease) and I beleived and trusted them all that time. However, I had a sneaking suspicion that something else might have been going on, and I suspected that it might be due to adrenal fatigue because one day while surfing the net I ran across that condition and noted that in stressful conditions, the body would become very weak. Well, I got to thinking, and I remembered back to a couple of times when I got into stressful situations, and I remembered how aweful I felt imediately following the situations. My body became very weak, my breathing became labored and shallow, I was very dizzy and idssoriented, and just felt like something bad was happening. Before I learned about adrenal fatigue, I just assumed it was my Crohn's disease. Well, I wrote down all the symptoms that I was having, compared them to adrenal fatigue, and lo and behold, I had quite a number of them ie: Cold/Hot intollorance, fatigue, adrenal like overload, night sweats, etc etc etc. I brought this list into a new Doctor in my hometown health clinic, and right away he thought that maybe I was suffering from cushings.

He went through my checklist of symptoms and asked me questions about each one ie: "Do you sweat every night"? (Yep- would wake up soaked from head to foot- even my hair would be soaked) "Do you shiver on hot sunny days"? (Yep) etc. Up until I brought that list in, I couldn't really explain to my docs what was happening. All I could say was "I feel exhausted all the time, have to take naps, don't sleep well" etc. My explainations were generic in nature & therefore my docs didn't really know what was going on. They assumed that the Crohn's disease was just robbing me of proper nuitrition & my body was usffering from it.

Turns out htough, that I wasn't, it turns out that I have acromegaly and elevated prolactin levels with low testosterone and low DHEA, and had a pit tumor 1.2 centimeters.

I thgink it is important to tell your docs that in stressful situations your body reacts innappropriately & you feel strange, like something is not right- Tell them your muscles aren't acting right either & that when stressed, you really suffer for it. This isn't normal. Normal muscles will handle stress just fine and snap right back to their healthy state soon after. But people with hormone problems don't have that ability. We suffer for days sometimes afterwards.

Please keep us informed how your prognosis is going. I know it is frustrating, but aks your doc to try to get to the bottom of what's wrong because it is affecting your quality of life. Noone should have to suffer at our ages when there are answers, so please keep plugging and don't lose faith. It is a long road, but well worth the exhausting effort if you can get to the root of the problem and get help.
