Hi Bzmom, Minniechat, etc., Thanks so much for your replied on my upcoming surgery. Love the list and am looking for some funny slippers to wear especially because with my lymphedema, those hospital issue socks with be a tight and uncomfortable fit. Also, love the nerf gun thing too Minnie, cuz I get so irritated at the nurses or CNA that comes in at all hours to do vitals and so on. I think I will be in a private room after being in ICU for a day or so. That's the way it was last time anyways. One thing that you mentioned on the list about magazines and things like that, will probably not work for me for awhile because if I feel about the same this time as last time after surgery, I could not concentrate at all for a long time with reading or playing my game boy because my head felt so messed up and I couldn't concentrate or focus for long periods of time. That seemed to last longer than I would have liked. My head felt so scrambled. lol I am so hoping that things go smoother this time and most of all even though my surgery is on a tuesday, I really hope I will be alert enough to watch Amazing Race which is my alltime favorite show. But, if I will be in ICU, then I don't think they have a tv in there. lol Darn! I have to work the day before and I am already starting to get really scared and nervous. Especially since my mom insisted on having a Power of attorney letter put together and notarized. Oh yeah, that makes me feel so much better. I think she got that in her mind after that whole Terry Schiavo case and all. That also makes me freak a bit too. I still have another week or so to go, and I know it will be ok, but the nerves are really starting to show each day closer I get. One of my biggest concerns is how weak I will be already the day of surgery when I can't eat for 8 or so hours before and then going through the surgery which I have been told takes 5 hours. I am pre-diabetic and my body will be in very low mode before and after surgery. Also, I have obstructive sleep apnea(yes, the neuro knows about it), and I start thinking about breathing problems during and after surgery. I am sure this will all be addressed during my pre-op visit, but I was just mentioning this all to see if any of you had suggestions or comments about it. I guess that is all I have that has been on my mind lately. Thanks so much for all your support and replies and prayers. They are so needed and appreciated. God Bless you all, ((((((((((((Hugs)))))))))))) Judy |
