The term "non-functioning" might be a bit of a misnomer. I think the term is used to indicate that the tumor is not causing the Pit gland to secreete EXCESS hormones. It appears that non-secreting and non-functioning are used interchangeably. I have a "non-secreting" tumor and have had three operations on it since 2000. Standard medical opinion, for what that is worth, says that parts of the pit gland that are damaged do NOT recover their function, that is what I have been told. \ Hope this helps, greg |
