I had transphenodial surgery(sorry about spelling) and I looked pretty beat up.  I think it depends a lot on the ENT.  The ENT did most of my actual "surgery," (even though my neuro had the most important part)  I have pictures.   I will try to dig them out and  send them. They aren't too scary. lol   My nose was VERY swollen and I was black around my eyes and my chin.  The worst part for me was the stitches. My husband would make me laugh and it would hurt.  I would have to literally hold my mouth shut w/ my hands so I would not stretch or tear my stitches. (That was hard because I am a giggler!)  The endo nasal approach was not an option for me (or so I was told) due to my tumor size.  Bummer, I had to go through that while I hear others are out watching movies the next day!  At least a craniotomy was not necessary. It could always be worse!

Dang, I guess if I had seen that picture before surgery, that would have scared me to death! No wonder! I guess they would pick the 'scare tactic' photo to support their article.... kewl.
