I had surgery on May 10. Was feeling great until about a week later when an intense headache set in very quickly. Popped some meds and passed out for the night. Woke up in the morning and it was still there. Popped more meds (tylenol2 and an advil) and no relief. Kept taking pills every four hours but they did nothing. Started vomitting early afternoon. Finally went to ER that evening when I couldn't even keep a glass of water down. Turns out I was in a full adrenal crisis and they suspect pituitary apoplexy as either the cause or a result of the cortisol deficiency. I wasn't warned about the possibility by my doctors and now my pit is likely permanently compromised. I'm now on prednsione and testosterone and likely will be for the rest of my life. I can't help but wonder if I should have been warned or if maybe I was dismissed from the hospital too quickly after surgery. They should have seen the cortisol level was low, don't you think?
