Hello everyone,

I needed to post because last week my neuro had me get a serum cortisol test done so I can get off the hydrocortisone.  Well, I stopped taking the low daily doses since then.  I had a question though as to what exactly for is this test??

Also, my blood was checked for thyroid problems.  I  have gained weight even being off an on the hyrdrocort. and my face is puffy and hands swollen etc.  I saw a specialist for my lymphedema and because of my size, he started talking about cushings and acromegaly.  This started to make me fume because I have never been checked for any of these things.  All my siblings(two brothers), are very tall, and have big hands and feet( basically body proportionate).  This specialist(not an endo), is a vascular surgeon.  I looked him up because of my ever present swelling problems in my legs, ankles, and feet.  But when he started talking to me like I was Andre the Giant, I really started thinking about not being tested for any such syndromes.
I suppose I need to see a very good endo that deals with pituitary problems, huh??

Thanks in advance for any and all replies:)

Judy
