Dear Becky, Sometimes we feel depressed when we have just gotten over an illness. Don't feel depressed - try to talk to a girlfriend or relative. You must have someone?? The fact that your Mom needs you can be trying but also means that you are wanted and needed by someone. Try eating high protein meals for energy (yoghurt, cheese, eggs, fish, tofu or meat) cut back on carbs for your asthma and take 6 x 500mg Vitamin C a day. The vit C will fix up any viruses or bugs in the system. Ringing ears and shaking could be just weakness after the illness. Your thyroid meds shouldn't make you feel this way if it's the correct dose because thyroid tablets are so long acting you can skip a day and then take the correct dose to make up for it without any side effects. What about continuing to take a slightly higher dose of Cortef until you are completely well. You don't say if your blood pressure is OK. Can you check this? Also take some time to pamper yourself. Have a bubble bath, listen to some relaxation tapes, buy or borrrow a good new book, eat some chocolate(yes, it IS GOOD for you) go to bed before 10 pm. every night for proper sleep, watch a comedy channel and get some laughs. Before September comes and you see the new endo, get some information on ALL your medicines. You should become the expert. There are lots of internet sites on medicines. Check the doseages, the side effects, when to take, what to do in an emergencey etc. etc, Write a detailed journal of all the info. Sometimes with a busy lifestyle it is easy to skip or miss a dose or just become a bit blase about our meds. Draw up a grid and write down when you should be taking things and what the precautions/contraindications are. This way you will feel more in control of your meds and your Doctor will be able to work out a better way to help you, because most Doctors seem to like things in black and white. If you say I just don't feel well, they can't pinpoint it. But if you talk their language " I took 5mg say, of thyroxine at 8 am and 20 mg Cortef say, at 10 am and I don't feel well " then they will be able to adjust something. Anyway cheer up and let's hear from you soon!
Lena.
