I have acromegaly, Dr. feels SandostatinLAR is the treatment of choice (I've had surgery & gamma knife however, IGF level is increasing.) Sandostatin LAR is around $1,700.. per month (wholesale Drs. price). Medicare & gap insurance will only pay around $1,000..of it. The problem is, when the Dr. orders the drug he must pay the $1,700. and get reimburesed only $1,000. Medicare will not alow him to bill me for the difference. This leaves me with an option to buy Sandostin myself at about $2,100. a month with no insurance at all or go untreated. Talk about being between a rock and a hard place! HELP! How do people pay for this procedure? I will appreciate any help. DONNIE |
