Hi Tara, I am sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis. Has your doctor checked the levels of all your pituitary hormones? Do you currently see an endocrinologist? If not, I would encourage you to see an endocrinologist that specializes in pituitary tumors/disease. The dostinex that you are taking for your elevated prolactin is the treatment for the tumor. Usually, medication such as dostinex or bromocriptine is the first treatment for a prolactin-secreting tumor. If the medication does not work, or the patient cannot tolerate it, surgery is considered. Is the dostinex lowering your prolactin levels? If you want more children, you should consider seeing a reproductive endocrinologist for your PCOS and pituitary disease. How are you treated for the PCOS? The hormonal imbalance that the pituitary tumor causes can cause reproductive problems such as PCOS. What symptoms do you have? Do you have symptoms of hypercortisolism (Cushing's)? Has your doctor checked your cortisol level? Cushing's is very difficult to diagnose, there is no definitive test for Cushing's disease. I would encourage you to research and learn as much as you can about Cushing's. PCOS and Cushing's have many similar symptoms such as central/trunkal obesity, acne, hirtuism, blood sugar problems, etc. There are many more serious symptoms with Cushing's, however, hypercortisolism affects every organ of the body. I hope you find your answers, soon. Take care. You're in my prayers. Meri |
