Majid,

There are several different approches that Drs can use to remove the pituitary.  All of them have a very high survival rate.  These tumors are rarely malignant but they can be aggressive.  (They don't spread to other areas but they can grow back after surgery.)  I had very little pain following surgery but was definitely uncomfortable due to the nasal packing that was left in for 5 days.  Most Dr. don't leave it in that long and some use approches that don't need nasal packing at all.

My recovery was slow and difficult because my tumor had damaged my right eye and I had severe double vision before and after surgery.  Most folks recover in 4 to 6 weeks and do just fine following surgery.  Some have hormone imbalances and it takes a while to get them adjusted others have normal hormones right after surgery.  What ever you do, follow your Dr. advice following surgery.  Most of us have felt great right after surgery and it is tempting to do more than we should before we are fully healed.  This can lead to a setback so don't overdue it!

You can read my whole story under the My Pit Story Board on this site.

Wishing you the best!
Daryl
