If you are having your surgery in a teaching hospital you need to establish who exactly is doing the surgery. Possible scenerios: 1. The neurosurgeon does the entire procedure. 2. The resident or fellows open and close - the NS does the actual tumor removal. 3. The resident or fellow does the entire procedure withe the NS in the operating room. 4. The resident or fellow does the entire procedure with the NS supervising several procedures in different operating rooms. I discussed this with my NS stating that option 1 or 2 were the only acceptable possibilities - ended up with option 2 |
