Hi Guys-- I posted my story on here quite a while back-- the short version--after many years of not having periods and a lot of other symptoms I was diagnosed with a Prolactinoma-- which showed stalk compression on the MRI.  I never had lactation or very high prolactin levels--126 and my tumor was 7-8mm.  I opted for the surgery and had that in May of 04 at OHSU-- and everything seemed to be going well.  I did a follow up of my hormone levels for a 2nd check last week and my prolactin is back up to 71.  It was 32 post surgery and again 6 months post surgery.  My questions are:  Does doing a prolactin reading mid cycle or morning or afternoon affect the reading?  Also, I am having periods still and no lactation-- Any ideas.  I go to a new endo in Dec.  My insurance changed and I have to see him before they will even order the MRI-- So I won't know for a while if the tumor is back.  I have read that you should check your Prolactin on the 3rd day of your cycle if you are still having them... which leads me to another question for the women out there-- Did you have periods with high levels of prolactin or did they not return until treatement-- surgical or medicinal?  Was I a rare case?  I think my stalk compression played a big part in my symptoms first time around.  I hope to god it is not back.  Has anyone else had the surgery and had regrowth?  If so did you opt for the surgery again or try the meds?  Any advice is welcome !!!   wlk
