Update on my arthritus. I am diagnosed with both acromegaly and rheumatoid arthritis. After my acromegaly diagnosis, I thought that maybe the RA dx was incorrect. My rheumatologist has convinced me that I am lucky enough to have both. Anyway, I have difficulty differentiating between the 2 which makes it difficult for me to monitor my response to treatment.  Two months ago I requested a drop in my dose of sandostatin LAR from 20 to 10 because my hair was falling out.  My arthritis pain  increased significantly in the past month. I was attributing the increased pain to the RA and the changing weather but a nagging thought in the back of my mind kept going "It might be the aro...". I requested a new IGF-1 - which ended up being slightly elevated - in the 300s. The endo upped the dose on the Sandostatin back to 20. I received the increased dose on Friday. Sunday I was able to take the dogs for a 1/2 mile walk. This is something I have been unable to do for several months! On friday I could barely walk across the house. Obviously, the problem was the acro not the RA. To summarize, treatment for acro will definitely improve  arthritis symptoms.
