Hi Alex, I am sorry to hear about your wife's health. To answer your question, yes-the 10mm pituitary tumor can and does cause migraines and every other symptom you mentioned, as well as countless others. Migraines are very common with pituitary tumors. You said that the tumor is non-secreting-has she had all her hormone levels tested recently? Specifically, her ACTH and cortisol levels? I agree with Minnie-you need a second opinion. MGH has an excellent neuroendocrine clinic. You can send your wife's medical records and MRI films (cd preferably) to Dr. Swearingen and he will review them. If you prefer to seek care locally, Minnie suggested several well-known pituitary neurosurgeons. Your wife's reproductive problems (ovarian cysts) can also be caused by the pituitary tumor and hormonal imbalance it causes. During her total hysterectomy, did they save an ovary? If not, that may be the cause of her increased migraines and symptoms. The loss of both ovaries can cause an extreme hormonal imbalance. If she is now on estrogen replacement, that can cause the pituitary tumor to grow. As you can see, there are a lot of health problems associated with pituitary tumors and hormonal imbalance. I highly recommend a second opinion. Take care. Your wife and family are in my prayers. Meri |
