I was diagnosed 8 years ago with a prolactin secreting microadenoma which I have left alone in hopes that it would reciprocate.  Did not tolerate Parlodel or Dostinex well and a surgeon told me that operating was not a good option due to potential complications.  Prolactin levels have varied greatly (from 50-150) over the years but size has remained stable at 9mm.  My issue is weight gain around my middle.  I'm a 42 year old woman and have been on the thin to average size most of my life.  Lately I seem to be accumulating copious amounts of fat, like a tire sort of around my middle.  Is this related to the tumor or just middle age?  Has anyone else experienced this phenomenon?

Oh. Yes, Fat around the middle!!! That is the worst when your so used to being thin. I was under weight 4'11 and 76lbs. Those days are long gone and it is very depressing. I even gained weight on GH. It is the Tumor that does it for me. Estrogen and Thyroid can also be an issue along with Cortisol. My doctor gave me a diet pill called Meridia that had luck with and over the counter Trim Spa helped a little bit. Neither of which gave me any shakes or anything between the two I lost 13lbs starting with Trim Spa and then going off of that an on Meridia. I teeter between 3 lbs now and I am nowhere near where I would like to be but I just started HGH again three days ago. Terrible side effects but in some respects happy to be back on it!

Your not alone!!!

Probably a little of both. I don't know when you see your endo the next time, but you might want to ask him/her if it is possible that your endocrine status is changing a bit, and if some tests could be done to see where you are, at least endocrinologically.

I hope though that things will improve for you!
