Theresa,

I agree you should see an expert on pituitary tumors if your current doctors are not experts.

The size of your tumor is not allarming but the fact that it is pressing on the optic nerve would concern me.  I had appoplexy of a 2.8cm tumor that permanently damaged my right eye (persistent double vision).  There have been a few other folks on this board who have had significant vision problems caused by their tumor.

Keeping in mind that surgery is not without some risk letting the tumor grow can make it harder to remove in the future.  If it grows around the optic nerves it might becoume imposible to remove all of it which can cause them to grow back after surgery.

On the other hand pituitary tumors are usually slow growing so if you are being monitored by an expert on a regular basis they should be able to catch any significant changes before they become a problem.

I guess what I am saying is that there is no right answer.  Only you can weigh all the factors in your case and decide what is best for you.  Life is not without risk no mater what we do.

Wishing you the best
Daryl
