Yes, I do. In easy to understand terms - for years, image guided systems were not used for pituitary surgery. When working with tumors less than 1cm, the bony sella is small and tight and the tumor is located within the sella. On either side of the sella, in the cavernous sinus area is the following: Cavernous Sinus Structures in the wall: oculomotor nerve trochlear nerve ophthalmic division of trigeminal nerve maxillary division of trigeminal nerve (sometimes) Structures within the sinus: abducens nerve internal carotid artery carotid sympathetic plexus Picture is here: |
