Hi Rick.I remember how I convinced myself that my first surgeon was experienced to perform pituitary surgery. Other doctors (in the same hospital) said his is very experienced. My gut feeling was telling me it will be okey. But it was not.
Here are several points:
1. Consider the source. Who was telling you he is very experienced? Do they know for sure?
2. Do you know Dr. Mitchell's statistics? How many he performed, what his complication rate, what is the success rate and how does he define success?
3. You have a big tumor and history of stroke. You better have the best surgeon you can find. Dr. Laws was certified by ABNS in 1974. Dr. Mitchell's was certified by ABNS in 2000. 26 more years of experience!
Good luck.
