MRIs are part of life when you have a pituitary problem. The open MRI does not give as good of a picture as the regular MRI - though something is better than nothing. I don't have problems with the MRI (I close my eyes and hum a little tune that goes along with the noise). I have problems with needles and was horrified when it became obvious that I would have to give myself daily injections of Somavert. I sought the help of a psychologist who uses the cognitive-behavioral approach with great success. I saw her for 6 sessions which were covered by my health insurance. I have been giving myself injections for several months. The psychologist mentioned that she also works with people who have difficulty with MRIs. If it looks like more MRIs are in your future, you may want to look into a pschologist who uses a behavioral-cognitive approach for people with anxiety issues.
