Hi Daryl, Sorry to hear about the hard time you had with the MRI. Does your MRI center offer you headphones with music (bring your own cds) or does the tech offer to talk you through it? That may help with your anxiety. Some MRI machines offer the option of watching a dvd, as well. I am used to MRIs, now, but in '97 when I was first diagnosed, I had to have an MRI every month for 6 months!! I was young and very scared of having the MRIs-it was like torture to go every month! They were much louder and longer, then. I got up from the table once and vomited-I was not the tech's fav patient after that, lol. I chose to have an open MRI in 2002 (I had not had any MRIs since '97) and the resolution was terrible. I had to have a closed MRI at the request of my neurosurgeon. He could not read the open MRI because the images were so grainy. I have never had a problem with claustrophobia (@ least a problem that requires medication,) so I have never experienced the anxiety and fear that so many patients experience. I calm myself with music and the tech always talks me through it. My MRIs are always long-usually between 1-1 1/2 hours. I count myself lucky because the MRIs I endured in '97 were over 2 hours! I have had ten brain MRIs over the years. Sorry you had such a hard time with your sinuses draining during the MRI. I hope your doctor is able to get you into another MRI, soon. I hope you won't have any problems next time! Take care. You're in my prayers. Meri |
